The Buzz Bungalow: Wild Sophistication
The Buzz Bungalow is an educational, influential, and research driven space about honey bees. The need for such a facility stems from the steady decline of the crucial pollinators and the strides taken to educate the masses about honey bee importance. The design will consist of a retail floor, an informal classroom, exhibition space, and creative outlooks to provide various user groups with an unique and personable experience.
Visiting for a purpose
Whether the user is visiting for educational values or out of leisure, the space will connect in any possible way. Each journey will begin through the lobby, and then they will make a decision based on their reasoning for visiting, where to continue on through the space from there .
An online survey was conducted to grasp a better understanding of the true need for such a space. The nine multiple choice questions were intended to prove how much there is to know about honey bees and all they provide for us; the 68 responders came from a variety of different backgrounds, spanning from the United States to Ireland and England. As a result of conducting this survey for one week, the project scope was redefined and affirmed, proving the need for the space and its influence is crucial.
Wild Sophistication • A fully immersive experience
The compelling sophistication of a honey bee and its way of life is diverse. The wild flow of honey paired with the highly structured social order of a hive, simultaneously define a honey bee. The design of The Buzz Bungalow will incorporate an aesthetic that is both free and uniform, as does a honey bee through its life.
